Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHH) youth from all over Saskatchewan are fundraising to take a trip to S.A.L.T.S. in BC in May, 2027!
S.A.L.T.S. is the Sea And Life Training Society. Beginning Tuesday, May 25 2027, SDHHS is taking DHH youth from SK to the beautiful Coast of British Columbia, to set sail for a 4-day adventure with S.A.L.T.S. During these 4 days, the youth participants will learn how to sail a traditional tall ship; during their watch aboard, the participants will take part in all aspects of sea life including raising and lowering sails, galley work, chores, steering the ship and anchor watch at night. They will also be instructed in chart work and navigation, rope work and knots, the theory of sailing and rules of the road, as well as some sailing history and small boat handling. SDHHS takes great pride in the young DHH people in Saskatchewan. The purpose of SDHHS
Youth Programming is to provide our DHH youth the opportunity to develop leadership and self-advocacy skills, and strategies. It is also an opportunity to lessen the sense of isolation, to increase social interactions and to gain a sense of belonging.
Help the DHH youth from Saskatchewan fundraise by purchasing a S A S K Wheat sweatshirt from SDHHS!
